YOUR VIEWS WANTED TO SHAPE FUTURE OF OPEN SPACES

Views are being sought on open spaces across
Tendring to help shape future provision.

The district has a wide variety of open spaces,
from allotments to play areas and parks to recreation grounds, with four Green
Flags held by Tendring District Council (TDC). Each can provide opportunities
for sport and leisure, tourism, wildlife and biodiversity, helping community
well-being and the local economy.

The council is now looking for up-to-date
information on these open spaces to ensure there are enough of them, and of the
right type, that meet the needs of those who live or work in the district, and
those who visit too, and a public survey forms part of this work.

Consultants are now carrying out a review,
which will help inform future planning policies, the needs of the Tendring
Colchester Border Garden Community, and shape investment decisions.

Michael Talbot, TDC Cabinet Member for Environment,
encouraged people to have their say.

“While we can look at various pieces of data
about our open spaces, what is invaluable to us is that lived experience – what
do people who use our parks and playgrounds think of them,” Cllr Talbot said.

“Or perhaps you don’t use our open spaces; and
the reasons why could be really helpful too.

“This information will all help us to see where
we may have gaps, what we may need to invest in, and make our already brilliant spaces even better for generations to come.”
