Getting Started In The Gym

Across our 5 sites our halls and studios play host to a varied programme of fun and sociable exercise classes and are a great way to add something new to your fitness regime.

High-energy classes like Body Combat will get you burning some serious calories – 730 calories on average per session, in fact! Those who want to improve strength and mobility may like to try Pilates or our Body Conditioning class, which will keep you burning calories for up to 48 hours after your workout. Alternatively, spinning is a high-energy, low-impact class designed to be adapted to individual fitness levels, and you’ll find our disco-lit spin studio a vibrant setting for this ever-popular session.

Adult Gym Inductions

A great way to get started for those that have not used a Gym before or are feeling nervous to return, you will be sure to come away raring to go.

Our Adult 1-2-1 or paired 1 hour Inductions provide a fully comprehensive Induction; including a safety tour on how to use all our equipment as well as a blood pressure check. Throughout your session our Instructors will help you build a personalised written programme to help you get the best start.

We also recommend booking in for a Free 30 minute review every 4 -6 weeks to help keep you on track.

Junior Gym Inductions

Our Junior Gym Inductions are designed for ages 12-15 years.

Did you know that current research has shown that children who are inactive are more likely to become inactive as an adult!

Throughout the allocated 1 hour session a personalised written programme will be completed, including a safety tour on how to use our cardio and lowest weight resistance machines. To ensure they’re ready to exercise a blood pressure check is undertaken.

Please be aware that numbers will be restricted per session. A time band limit will be in place throughout peak times.

Clacton -Maximum of 12 Juniors at any one time.

Fast Track

Confident in the Gym and don’t wish to have an Induction – you can sign a Fast Track Form in Centre and be given a short health and safety tour of the Gym before getting started.

We are dedicated to helping you take every opportunity to enjoy the equipment and facilities that we offer. With this in mind, our Helth Commitment Statment will be shown to you before getting started outlining what we can resonable expect of each other. 

Back To Health Referral Scheme

Back To Health Scheme

Starting off with a health screening inclusive of a blood pressure check, a talk through your medical conditions/medication and a personalised written programme. This block of tweleve 1-2-1 sessions are for GP, link workers/ CVS and Sports for Confidence referrals looking to safely integrate exercise into their lives. Each session will be delivered by a qualified professional who will ensure that the type and intensity of the session is appropriate for your needs.

The Scheme is designed for those with; Heart Disease, Hypertension, Obesity (BMI ≤ 39.9), Stroke, Controlled Type 1/2 Diabetes, COPD, Severe Asthma, Long Covid, Mental Health, Cancer, Strength & Balance

You will be assessed at week 6 to ascertain if the scheme is suitable for you to continue and if it is necessary for you to remain on the scheme. Should you leave the scheme at week 6 you can then go on to access the facilities as a pay as you go, or monthly/annual member.

If the scheme is suitable, you will continue for a further 6 weeks, by mutual agreement with the instructor at a subsidised charge of £2.80 per session. All attendies must attend a minimum of 1 session per week.

After the 12 weeks have been completed you will eligible for a further 9 months on our subsidised Memberships.

Diabetes Rehab

A 45 minute low to moderate circuit training class for those with Type 2 diabetes. The session also provides educational talks on food and exercise and how to live a healthy balanced lifestyle. Each session ends with refreshments and a chance to socialise with the group and instructor. No need for a GP referral you can self-refer to get started. AT reception.

Cardiac Rehab

A graded gym based programme for referrals from the Clinical Cardiac Rehab team at Clacton Hospital. Your personalised programme will be designed to help safely build on basic movements and exercise over a period of time post cardiac care. For more information please speak with your GP or medical clinician.

Cancer Rehab

A 45 minute low-moderate circuit training class, followed by social refreshments at the end. This session is for those pre and post cancer treatment. The session also provides educational talks on food and exercise. For more information please speak with your GP or medical clinician.

Fitness Classes at our Centres

Class descriptions

Pre Paid Members can book Ten days in advance from 10pm each evening for all Fitness Classes and Racquet Bookings.  Our Well Being Zone is for 16+ only. We also follow all user safety guidelines, therefore entry maybe denied under specific medical grounds. Please ask a member of staff for more information.
